Assistant Headteacher – SENCo and Pastoral Leader

Due to the promotion of our existing SENCo and the redesign of our senior leadership team we have an exciting opportunity to join Glenleigh Park Academy.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to apply their skills and develop their career further in a school that is committed to the very best for its pupils and staff.

We are looking for someone who wants to;

  • Build on the strong SEND provision within the school and develop pastoral care by leading the new pastoral staff team.
  • Play a key role in the leadership team of our ‘Good’ school and secure further success
  • Use their skills and talents to contribute to the success of all our pupils
  • Continue to develop their leadership skills

The successful candidate for this role will have the skills and attributes to lead a staff team in securing the best outcomes for the most vulnerable pupils. They will have the experience to enable them to hit the ground running and the desire to continue to learn and develop their existing skills. It is not essential that the successful candidate has the National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordination but they must be willing to undertake the training if they do not already hold it.

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy is a large and diverse primary school located in modern buildings with extensive grounds. The school has been judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in the two inspections since it opened in September 2012. The leadership structure has recently changed and a new Executive Headteacher and Head of School have been in post since September 2018. The school is part of Aurora Academies Trust which operates six schools across three local authorities in the South East of England. The trust plays a key role in supporting its schools, particularly through its bespoke leadership development programme.

Behaviour and Pastoral Assistant

We are looking for a full time behavioural and pastoral assistant who will;We are looking for a talented individual to join our newly established behaviour and pastoral team at Glenleigh Park Academy. We believe in supporting every child to achieve their full potential and are looking for someone with the skills to add to our committed staff team.

  • Support individual pupils in achieving specific and carefully planned targets
  • Support our Pastoral Leader in meeting the needs of pupils who are vulnerable through observations, planning support, leading nurture based activities and supporting with admin as required
  • Liaise effectively with parents and external agencies to ensure that provision is well matched to the individual needs of pupils
  • Commit to their own professional development and engage with a wide range of professional development opportunities
